Porto Novo, April 19 (Inforpress) – The coverage rate in the municipality of Porto Novo with drip irrigation has reached 56% with the completion of the first phase of the installation project of this irrigation system in Manuel Lopes.
This information was provided to Inforpress today by the delegate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) in Porto Novo, Joel Barros, who explained that the first phase of the project in Manuel Lopes covered more than three hectares of land belonging to former owners.
With this, Joel Barros explained, Porto Novo now has 148.8 hectares of agricultural land covered by drip irrigation, corresponding to a coverage of 56% throughout the municipality.
Since 2016, a micro-irrigation system has been installed in 86 hectares of land in Porto Novo, thanks to the massification program of drip irrigation that MAA has been implementing in this municipality, benefiting 553 farmers, according to the same source.
