Porto Novo, Sep 13 (Inforpress) – The Água do Porto Novo company (APN) still has no “operational conditions” to produce drinking water, a situation affecting at least ten thousand people, whose water supply depends on the desalination plant in charge of this company.
In a statement, the City Hall of Porto Novo, through the Autonomous Water Service, explained that the situation is due to the last rains occurred Saturday, the 10th, have caused “a new flood” to the APN, causing “malfunctions in the intake of water and production machines for desalinated water”.
Therefore, the APN “does not have operational conditions to produce drinking water and does not have enough water in the reservoirs for the supply”, the same source said, stating that “the distribution of drinking water through the public supply network to the city of Porto Novo and self-transported is interrupted and still no recovery forecast”.
However, the City Hall said it believed that “in the coming days” the situation could be normalized, appealing to customers and consumers “for the rational use of water”.
Meanwhile, for emergency situations, the autonomous service is using to water holes.
