Porto Novo, Jan 8 (Inforpress) – The agri-food processing center in Casa de Meio, in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, starts producing for the market from this Saturday, 9th, involving a group of 20 women from that agricultural area.
The information was provided by the president of the Young Farmers Association of Casa de Meio, Otelinda Medina, who said that women were already trained in agri-food processing and modern agricultural production techniques, and are therefore prepared for this challenge.
The agri-food processing center in Casa de Meio, inaugurated in November, was installed as part of the “Young farmers” project in that location, which benefited 33 young local farmers, with plots and drip irrigation kits for exploration agricultural.
Otelinda Medina highlights the importance of the project in the lives of these young people, adding that the agri-food processing center will be a source of income for the 20 beneficiary women, thus contributing to poverty reduction in that area.
