Popular Party considers Parity Law a great “hypocrisy” of the political parties that approved it

Praia, Nov 11 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Council of the Popular Party (PP), Guilhermina Araújo, considered the sixth article of the Parity Law recently approved in the National Assembly, “a great hypocrisy” of political parties.

Speaking to Inforpress at the end of the party’s biweekly meeting, Guilhermina Araújo said that what is explicit in this article is already included in article 1, paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the Republic, clarifying, however, that PP is not against the Parity Law.

“Our fundamental freedom begins with the principle of equality that is explicit in the Constitution, so we think this was a hypocrisy of parties sitting in the National Assembly”, she said.

The law of parity and equality, she explains, is apparently 50/50, so it should not, according to the spokeswoman for the PP, the list of parties and administrative positions indicate that the percentages should be 60/40.
