Praia, April 24 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will introduce from May 2 innovations in its vaccination program with the application of a polio vaccine injected, informed the country’s health authorities.
The guarantee is from the director of the National Reproductive Health Program (PNSR), Evanlida Santos, in a statement to the press, in the margin of the opening ceremony of the African Vaccination Week (SAV), held at Achada Santo Antonio Health Center, in Praia City.
“We are going to make the official launch of the polio vaccine on the 28th this month, on the Boa Vista island, and then on May 2 it will be available in all health facilities. It is a vaccine that guarantees the reinforcement of the immunity of the existing oral polio vaccine,” she said, adding that this was a response to the WHO recommendations.
Evanilda Santos said that in the last five years the country has had a “good rate” of vaccination coverage, surpassing 90 percent (%) and in 2016 achieved a coverage rate that exceeds 95%.
