Praia, Jun 7 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, considers that the EllaLink submarine cable, which came into operation today, is an important factor in the transformation of Cabo Verde as a digital hub in Africa and the Middle Atlantic.
Speaking at the ceremony that marked the start-up of this fiber optic submarine cable, which connects Cabo Verde to Europe and Latin America, Ulisses Correia e Silva recalled that the executive took on digital transformation as an accelerator of the country’s sustainable development.
“We have the ambitious purpose of positioning Cabo Verde as a relevant technology hub in Africa and the Middle Atlantic. The state-of-the-art fiber optic submarine cable. ElllaLink, which connects Cabo Verde to Europe and Latin America, is an important factor in achieving this goal,” he said.
Ulisses Correia e Silva also stressed that this venture, which was the European Union’s partnership and the financing of 25 million dollars from the European Investment Bank (EIB), marks a new era in telecommunications and internet access in Cabo Verde.
