Petition for removal mathematics textbooks from the market has already gathered 1600 signatures


Praia, Oct 4 (Inforpress) – The public petition circulating on the Internet for the for removal of the mathematics textbooks for basic school students, introduced this year in Cabo Verde, gathered until today at 9:55AM, 1600 signatures.

The reason is that the textbook presents linguistic and conceptual errors, however, despite the opposition request (African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde – PAICV and Cabo Verdean Independent and Democratic Union – UCID), parents and citizens in general, the Government says that will keep the textbooks on the market.

The promoters of the petition, among teachers and parents and guardians, intend with the initiative that the Ministry of Education, through the National Directorate of Education (DNE), assess the situation and order the removal of textbooks circulated for the educational community in Cabo Verde”.

They affirm that it is up to the governments to create “efficient policies and comprehensive measures” so that the population, for which responds, enjoy the right to education, provided for in the Constitution of the Republic, since the search for a better quality of life makes the better jobs, which in turn demand better educational levels.
