Praia, April 03 (Inforpress) – The leader of the Cabo Verde People’s Party (PP) said that the Government of the Movement for Democracy (MpD, ruling party) promise to create 9.000 jobs a year was “pure and simply deception”.
Amandio Barbosa Vicente reacted to Inforpress’s comments on Friday by the National Statistical Institute (INE), which confirmed that the country’s unemployment rate increased in 2016.
He recalled that the PP National Directorate had already alerted the population that the electoral promise made by the prime minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, to create 9.000 jobs a year was “misleading propaganda” and the data showed that unemployment increased to “over nine thousand”.
According to INE data, unemployment in men went from 13.5 percent (%) to 12.9 percent, while in women it rose from 11.2 percent to 17.4 percent.
