People’s Party accuses Ulisses Correia e Silva of being involved in land corruption

Praia, 13 Jul (Inforpress) – The president of the People’s Party (PP), Amândio Vicente, accused Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva on Sunday of being involved in land corruption when he was Mayor of Praia.

Amândio Vicente made this statement to the press, on the sidelines of the biweekly party meeting, explaining that the current Prime Minister signed a memorandum with lawyer Arnaldo Silva to sell land which not belong to the municipality at the time.

“We are continuing the articles published by Rui Araújo, in which he speaks of a memorandum signed by Ulisses Correia e Silva at the time when he was the Mayor of Praia,” he said.

In this sense, Amândio Vicente accused Ulisses Correia e Silva of being involved in acts of corruption, involving land, including the memo that proves the illegality was published.

Amândio Vicente said that it was in this regard that the change in the Attorney General’s Office was made because the former prosecutor “was already putting his finger on the strong thing”. The PP leader drew the attention of the international community to be attentive, since the “Cabo Verdean justice has shown signs” of not being able to fight corruption in the country.
