Payment of 35% of salary represents fulfillment of a duty to Red Cross – SISCAP

Praia, Aug 14 (Inforpress) – The permanent secretary of SISCAP said today that the direction of the Red Cross has already made the payment of 35% of workers’ wages, stressing that this decision “represents the fulfillment of a duty should never be harmed”.

Last week, the Union of Industry, Services, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (SISCAP), at a press conference, denounced the Cabo Verde Red Cross (CVCV) for trying to circumvent the law for non-payment of 35 percent (%) of the salary due to 118 workers, referring to the month of July.

In reaction, CVCV’s president, Arlindo de Carvalho, was surprised by the union’s position, guaranteeing that the 35% should be paid by the National Social Security Institute (INPS), under the new lay-off regime, would be regularized, without, however, specifying the date.

Arlindo de Carvalho explained at the time, that with the arrival of COVID-19 in Cabo Verde, CVCV had to forcibly suspend the holding of social games, as the main source of revenue, because there were no conditions for its realization, which ended up affect the company and make it request to be included in the list of companies in ‘lay-off’.
