Cidade das Pombas, Paul, Jun 13 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, recognized, in Paul, that local power is not a perfect work and has dysfunctions in the legislative framework that require the law to be revisited, 30 years later.
“I propose that the Statute of Municipalities and the Law on Local Finance be revisited, for analysis of the performance of administrative supervision of local authorities and taking the consequent measures,” said José Maria Neves, who, at the time, acknowledged that “in defense of territorial cohesion, it recommends prudence on the strategic management of available resources, especially of soils”.
According to the Head of State, who spoke during the solemn session commemorating the Municipality Day of Paúl, soils are very rare and should be used with a strategic sense, taking into account that many municipalities do not even have land to expand their urban space or implement infrastructure capable of promoting socio-economic development, cultural and sporting events for the citizens.
Therefore, José Maria Neves recommended that, wherever the State has soils available, the necessary consultation with the municipalities should be carried out so that they are transferred to the municipal sphere.
