Parliament: PAICV considers “worrying the Government’s lack of transparency” in the last six years

Praia, Nov 24 (Inforpress) – The African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV, opposition party) today called the Government’s “lack of transparency” worrying over the past six years, with “disastrous consequences” for Cabo Verdean taxpayers.

PAICV’s position was defended by its workbench leader, João Baptista Pereira, at the opening of the debate with the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, with the theme “Transparency as a factor of development”.

At the time, the MP began by criticizing the central power for the “failure to comply” with the promise to increase the efficiency and transparency of the State, through the improvement of legislation and fight corruption.

In this sense, the Public Administration “needs to be profoundly reformed”, truly putting it at the service of development, and not at the service of a political party,  he said. For the parliamentarian, for lack of transparency, and “cling stubbornly”, the privatization of TACV, one of the flags of the Government Program for the 9th Legislature, resulted in a “real failure”.
