Parliament: CPI on dam construction meets to agree on names of entities to be heard

Praia, Feb 6 (Inforpress) – The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the Investigation of the Construction Process of some Dams met Wednesday, for the second time, to agree on the names of the personalities to be heard.

The president of this Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), Emanuel Barbosa, in statements to the press said that some experts will also be heard, as well as some documents will be requested from the public administration regarding the built dams, namely Banca Furada (São Nicolau), Salineiro (Santiago) and Canto Cagarra (Santo Antão).

“We have to have all the elements to be able to do the job, which we hope for with quality, and we can present a good result to the Cabo Verdean nation in all the questions that have to do with the construction of the three dams”, explained the CPI’s president.

Urged on the personalities to be heard, Emanuel Barbosa did not want to disclose names before they were agreed between the parliamentary groups of the Movement for Democracy (MpD-ruling party) and the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition party). Regarding to the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID – opposition party), with three parliamentary representations, he revealed that this party has not yet presented a name.
