Parliament approves Motion of Confidence to the Government of Ulisses Correia e Silva

Praia, Jun 15 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Parliament approved, in a special extraordinary session, this Monday, the Motion of Confidence to the Government of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), led by Ulysses Correia e Silva, winner of the legislative elections of April 18.

The instrument was approved 42 votes in favour, 38 from the MpD and four from the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID), and 30 votes abstained from the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV).

In his statement of vote, UCID MP Amadeu Oliveira said that, especially at the beginning of his term of office, it is necessary to give the Government the necessary tools to start governance.

For his part, the leader of the parliamentary PAICV workbench, João Baptista Pereira, stressed that the abstention vote does not mean that his party is voting for the MpD, but in Cabo Verde, and to give the benefit of the doubt to the Government and Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva.
