Praia, June 21 (Inforpress) – The leader of the municipal workbench of the African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition party), Vladimir Silves Ferreira, today advocated the need to decentralize fire services, with the creation of a barracks in the South area of Praia.
The verification was made after a visit to the Municipal Firefighters premises, so as to be able to find out about the working conditions of the corporation and to dialogue with the leadership about the potentialities and limitations of the civil protection system.
Speaking to reporters, Vladimir Ferreira defended that it is necessary to build barracks in the southern zone to cover the neighborhoods of Palmarejo and Cidadela, despite the “centrality” in Fazenda area, where is located the Municipal Firefighters.
“There is clearly the need to decentralize. Of course that Fazenda is a centralized area, but Praia City is growing at a pace that requires a decentralized firefighter service,” he said.
