Praia, Jul 8 (Inforpress) – The PAICV president today congratulated Cabo Verdean women appointed abroad for “high positions” and reminded national authorities that just approval of the law will not guarantee parity if there is no change in mentality.
Janira Hopffer Almada made this consideration to the press when invited to comment on the fact that she considered to be a “great achievement”, which honors the women appointed, but also the country and Cabo Verdeans.
The PAICV leader referred to the recent appointments of Cristina Duarte as Special Adviser announced by the United Nations Secretary‑General António Guterres, and Elisabeth Moreno to head the French government’s Ministry of Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities , now led by Jean Castex.
“The achievements that Cabo Verdeans achieve, whether inside or outside, should be a reason for recognition and appreciation by all, as these personalities win, but the country also wins”, added the same source.
The achievements of Cabo Verdeans, she stressed, always have a positive impact on the recognition of Cabo Verde and on the growth of skills.
