Praia, Jan 7 (Inforpress) – The president of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV-opposition party) today expressed full willingness to collaborate and contribute to the construction of national understandings that serve the interests of the country and bring benefits to all Cabo Verdeans.
Rui Semedo expressed this intention after presenting the New Year greetings to the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, with whom he shared issues that concern the party.
“We put our concerns that have to do with the country’s pandemic context, the economic crisis, the social and health crisis, but also with the impacts that this whole crisis has had on people’s lives,” said the president of PAICV, who said that economic and fundamentally social responses have been lacking to minimize the suffocation of families.
For Rui Semedo, the State must assume its responsibility to these people and with other institutions concerned and especially sensitive to the situation faced by people who, in addition to the negative effects of the pandemic, continue to suffer from drought, which creates more difficulties for people in the countryside and in the city.
