PAICV and MpD converge on the need to accelerate the energy transition process in Cabo Verde

Praia, May 23 (Inforpress) – The PAICV and the MpD today demonstrated to be convergent on the need to accelerate the energy transition process in Cabo Verde, aiming to achieve the goals already established to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

The positioning of the two parliamentary benches was presented at a press conference for the balance of the parliamentary days of preparation for the next parliamentary session that starts this Wednesday with a debate with the Prime Minister on the “Strategy for accelerating the energy transition” proposed by the MpD parliamentary group.

The leader of the bench of the African Party of the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV), João Baptista Pereira, said that his party is looking forward to this debate, taking into account that the energy transition is a matter that should constitute consensus.

“The energy transition is undoubtedly a one-way street and Cabo Verde cannot escape the rule. We will be, however, in this debate, with total openness to give our contribution, but above all to listen to what the Government has to tell us about this acceleration strategy because in truth we understand that it is necessary to accelerate this transition,” he said.
