Praia, Mar 4 (Inforpress) – Musician and composer Princezito highlighted Wednesday the Orlando Pantera’s influence and contribution in the promotion and development of Cabo Verdean culture, stating that he is a man of the future who needs to be better known and debated.
Princezito, who baptismal name is Carlos Alberto Sousa Mendes, made these statements to Inforpress, on the sidelines of an open conversation “Batuku and Influence of Pantera in the musical genre; Translation of lyrics and expressions of his songs”, held this Wednesday afternoon, at the Ildo Lobo Palace, in the city of Praia.
The event aims to approach Orlando Pantera in its unpopular aspects, because Orlando Pantera, died on March 1, 2001, influenced people who consumed his art and has several dimensions few people know.
“Pantera influenced people who consume or consumed his art, the younger ones. Pantera created his own style of playing the batuku, the fingering, the way he played, so he is influenced by our things like tabanca, funaná, ladainha, finançon and more,” he said, considering Orlando Pantera an “eclectic, transversal artist who has influenced and will continue to mark generations.”
