Praia, April 26 (Inforpress) – The Ombudsman of Cabo Verde wants to improve its performance among citizens through the DEMOS project, which also covers the archipelagos of the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores, as well as Senegal and Mauritania .
In an interview with Inforpress, the Ombudsman, Antonio do Espirito Santo Fonseca, explained that it is in this context that the country receives, from April 26 to 27, an institutional mission from the countries that are part of the project, with the objective to publicly present the DEMOS, as well as initiate institutional necessary contacts for the implementation of the activities planned for Cabo Verde.
“We want to understand the weak and strong points that we will have to address in each of our territories so that we can carry out the common mission of upholding citizens’ rights and develop a cooperation program to improve the performance of Ombudsmen with their Citizens,” he said.
According to Antonio Espirito Santo, the “proximity” of the Ombudsman to citizens is a “crucial problem”, emphasizing that it is “very important” to spread the role of the Ombudsman, especially among young people who are a “strategic” target audience.
