Praia, Sep 3 (Inforpress) – IGAE revealed Monday that in compliance with the law regulating the sugarcane grogue production, 262 factories were sealed, 336 stills sealed and the production of 1.720.718 liters of grogue.
According to a statement from the General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IGAE), sent today to Inforpress, this authority reported that, in collaboration with the National Police and the City Halls, from June 1 to July 31 carried out the sealing of the stills in the Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santiago and Brava islands, with only three units left to seal on the island of Maio.
In the course of this sealing, it has revealed that to date 262 grogue production plants have been inspected, 83 less than 2018, sealed 336 stills, and the production of one million seven hundred twenty thousand seven hundred eighteen liters of grogue are quantified. Of this amount, according to IGAE, 81 percent (%) of the production was declared in Santo Antão Island, 13% in Santiago Island, 5% in São Nicolau Island and 1% in Brava Island.
According to the same source, in the context of combating the use of sugar and other solution to counterfeit the grogue, about five hundred and thirty-six thousand eight hundred and forty-four thousand liters of sugar and other solution were seized and destroyed, which could produced about 107.000 liters of fake grogue.
