Ocean Race/São Vicente: National Police promise “tight security” during the passage of the race

Mindelo, Jan 18 (Inforpress) – The National Police today promised “tight security” in the city of Mindelo and neighboring neighborhoods during the passage of the Ocean Race, with the arrival of the first sailboat on Friday night, 20, and departure on 25.

According to the Security coordinator of the Ministry of Internal Administration, Roberto Fernandes, the plan designed involves several human resources and logistical means, in reinforcement of the São Vicente Command of the National Police and Civil Protection, so that the island can host “in the best way” the regatta, considered the largest in the world.

On this occasion, police units such as motorcycle snipers and an “important reinforcement” of human resources from the Ministry of Internal Administration, the National Police and the National Civil Protection System have already arrived on the island.

The police reinforcement is 60 men, which represents 25% of the staff of the São Vicente Regional Command, mostly from the Maritime Police, since the largest share of security will be at sea.
