Norwegian company plans to invest in São Vicente and create more than 400 direct jobs in Cabo Verde

Praia, 12 Oct (Inforpress) – The creation of 400 direct jobs and 1.200 indirect jobs in Cabo Verde is what the Norwegian company Nortuna wants with the large scale tuna breeding in aquaculture in São Vicente.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, on his social media page, welcoming the implementation of Nortuna CV SA and admitting that it is “an excellent project for the São Vicente Island”.

“Nortuna, a world reference company in the reproduction of tuna in aquaculture, chose Cabo Verde for large-scale production, foreseeing to create more than 400 direct jobs and a total of 1.200 indirect ones”, he announced.

The memorandum of understanding, according to Ulisses Correia e Silva, has already been signed by the Government, through the Ministry of Maritime Economy, with the aforementioned company.

“The first phase will be in Flamengo, São Vicente, with an expansion planned for Tarrafal de Monte Trigo and, later, São Nicolau”, told the government official, stressing that only from Flamengo they expect to export 60 tons of tuna per day.
