New legal regime for accidents at work begins to be applied on May 1, 2023

Praia, Apr 3 (Inforpress) – Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV) has already regulated the compulsory insurance rate for work accidents and occupational diseases, thus allowing the application of the new legal regime from May 1, 2023.

According to the BCV notice, published in the Official Bulletin (BO) on March 30, the new legal regime for accidents at work and occupational diseases proven in 2020 should come into force on January 1, 2021.

However, the economic crisis associated with the covid-19 pandemic meant that its entry into force was successively postponed, having entered into force on January 1, 2023.

However, for this regime to be applied, it was necessary for there to be a tariff regulation issued by the BCV, since it did not opt for a tariff or premium regime freely contractualized between the parties.

    São Vicente: Ministry of the Sea presents final version of the National Strategy for the Sea 2023-2033 Mindelo, Dec 8 (Inforpress) – The government is preparing to present the National Strategy for the Sea 2023-2033 and its action plan, an instrument for planning, operationalising and implementing economic and social development related to the sea and the economic activities it supports. The Ministry of the Sea said that the presentation workshop should take place on the 19th in the conference room of the Chamber of Commerce of Barlavento, in Mindelo, followed by a debate/clarification session. The same source clarified that the National Strategy for the Sea 2023-2033 came from the responsibility of the National Directorate of Maritime Policy (DNPM) to propose and develop measures that promote the competitiveness of the sector, aiming to make the country a maritime logistics platform in the Middle Atlantic. It will provide answers to the “major challenges” of the decade and will strengthen Cape Verde’s position and visibility in the region and the world as a “historically and geographically maritime” nation.
