National Library of Cabo Verde highlights importance of encouraging children’s reading

Praia, Jun 23 (Inforpress) – The  technician at National Library of Cabo Verde, Alice Moreira highlighted the importance of encouraging children’s reading, emphasizing that only in this way a country is created with “critical and responsible” citizens, capable of contributing to development.

The same source spoke this Tuesday to the press in the context of a set of activities with children from 3 to 12 years, under the theme “Play and learn from books”, referring to the “June – child month” program, carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, through the National Library of Cabo Verde (BNCV).

According to this responsible, the activities aim to encourage children’s reading, developing in children the habit of reading, as well as boosting the library.

“As the saying goes, best to bend while it is a twig and, according to Monteiro Lobato, a country is formed with men and books then child and book should always be together (…), if we start this way from an early age the country will be better because we will have responsible critical men and women able to continue with the future towards the development of the country” she stated.
