National Commission on Human Rights and Citizenship is monitoring the Alex Saab’s arrest

Praia, Dec 11 (Inforpress) – The National Commission on Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC) is monitoring the arrest situation of the Venezuelan businessman Alex Saab, expecting that the Cabo Verdean State will make justice, in a way as quickly as possible.

CNDHC’s president, Zaida Freitas, gave this information to journalists, apart from the ceremonies alluding to the International Human Rights Day, stating that the CNDHC does not have the competence to have any intervention in this specific case that is under the jurisdiction of justice.

“We had the opportunity to be with him, but more to assess the health situation, the prison itself. We are working on a report, not specifically on the case, but on the Sal prison, with some recommendations to improve the situation there”.

Alex Saab Morán, a Colombian national with a Venezuelan passport, was detained in Sal on 12 June, in compliance with an international warrant issued by Interpol at the request of the American authorities.
