Praia, Aug 8 (Inforpress) – The CNDHC started today, on the outskirts of the port of Praia, the 3rd edition of the initiative “Human Rights do not go on vacation”, aiming to raise awareness fo the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in public spaces.
The initiative promoted by the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC) in partnership with the Youth For Peace Movement (JXP), aims, according to the president of the CNDHC, in press statements, to get people to reflect on their rights.
“With this we are raising awareness of the document so important to all of us, which is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and getting people to reflect on their rights and what they can do to be defenders and promoters of human rights,” said Zaida Freitas. For the person responsible, talking about rights is also talking about duties and leading people to live a life in harmony and with the principles of the declaration.
Therefore, to go to the port of Praia, according to the president of CNDHC, is to find formal and diverse public contexts since on site, in addition to fish sellers and shipowners, people from other branches of business circulate. “Our intention is to talk to these people to find out how they analyze the human rights situation in Cabo Verde. We also know that it is a population that has its weaknesses and it is exactly with these people we want to talk about the promotion and protection of their rights,” ahe added.
