Praia, Dec 3 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde National Archives Conservative, José Maria Borges, said the institution is facing “serious human resources problems”, so the “big bet” of its mandate will be investing in training.
José Maria Borges was speaking to Inforpress Monday as part of the celebration of the institution’s thirty-first anniversary, which takes place on December 31, but whose commemoration activities are already underway.
“With regards to archive we have few qualified people in the area. The country has only seven senior technicians, and the last course for professional technicians was taken in 2005, so to cover the whole country, we need to train and qualify technicians for that,” he explained.
To remedy the problem, the ANCV conservative added that a project with national and international funding is already in place, so that by the beginning of 2020 the fourth technical course on archiving professionals will start.
With the universities, José Maria Borges said that he made contacts to create, in the short or medium term, postgraduate course for professional archival technicians.
