Praia, Jul 21 (Inforpress) – The MpD Parliamentary Group (GP) met Tuesday with the Minister of Infrastructure, Eunice Silva, to learn about the progress of the ministry’s work in the pandemic context and to prepare for the debate on the State of the Nation.
Speaking to Inforpress, the Movement for Democracy (MpD) MP Luís Carlos Silva explained this meeting is part of the preparation of the debate on the State of the Nation and taking into account the negative effects caused by COVID-19, the Parliamentary Group was to know the impacts the pandemic has on the capacity of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
With the arrival of COVID-19 in Cabo Verde there was a capacity to raise funds in the country and an increased need for expenses, he said, highlighting that the pandemic implies new needs for expenses and responses.
“The Ministry of Infrastructure is going through many difficulties in the COVID-19 context in terms of the mobilization of resources, the infrastructure depends on the Ministry of Finance that is the one which finances the investments and the Ministry of Infrastructure has made a very careful selection to ensure the continuity of the works”, he said, stressing that there was a reduction in execution, but there are still no works down due to lack of investments.
