São Filipe, May 17 (Inforpress) – The City council of Mosteiros celebrates on Thursday, 18, the International Museum Day and the second anniversary of the opening of the Café do Fogo Museum with a conference to reflect on the role of museums in the development of communities.
Through a press release, the Culture department of the City Council of Mosteiros highlighted that this year’s topic chosen by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) to celebrate the International Museum Day is “Museums, sustainability and well-being”, and that it is on this basis that it has prepared a special programme for the celebration of the two dates.
The event takes place at the premises of the Museu do Café do Fogo in the city of Igreja, Mosteiros, and will feature a conference attended by museologists and cultural agents of the island of Fogo, to address issues related to the well-being and sustainable development of communities and the contribution of museums to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG-3 (Health and Well-being), 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Earth).
C With the conference, the City Council of Mosteiros intends to promote a reflection on the role of museums in the development of communities, based on the assumption that “museums are important assets for the well-being and sustainable development of communities, through multiple activities”.
