Sao Filipe, June 7 (Inforpress) – The project to promote irrigated agriculture in the lower areas of the municipality, aimed at promoting self-employment among young people and boosting one of the most promising sectors in Mosteiros has already started after several months of wait.
Jaime Monteiro Junior, councilman for the agriculture sector in the City Hall of Mosteiros, said to Inforpress that the preparation works of a plot of land in the Ponta Lapa area, with 9.000 square meters of extension, rented by the City Hall, has already been finalized since last week in order to install the irrigation system, whose forecast for completion is for the coming weeks.
On Tuesday afternoon, the councilman met with eight young beneficiaries of the plots to encourage them to carry out the trenching work for the installation of the water supply network so that the project can start as soon as possible.
The project, according to the councilman, is the result of a tripartite partnership between the City Hall, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) and the Center for Employment and Vocational Training, and it is City Hall responsibility to invest in the rent of land for the implementation of irrigated plots and MAA make available kits for the young beneficiaries and the installation of the irrigation system, and the Employment Center guarantees training for the eight young beneficiaries in the new techniques of agriculture.
