More than four hundred experts expected today at the II WASAG Forum to debate the challenges for resilient agriculture

Praia, Feb 7 (Inforpress) – More than four hundred international experts and a large number of specialists, professionals and national activists are expected today at the II WASAG 2023 Forum to discuss the challenges for resilient agriculture in the context of climate change.

Under the theme “Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG), the forum, according to a press release, is promoted by the Government of Cape Verde, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in articulation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the high patronage of the Government of the Swiss Federation.

Focusing on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and West African countries, the event can mobilize participants from across the globe to discuss how water scarcity in agriculture is addressed and turned into an opportunity for sustainable development and security of food and nutrition.

This forum also intends to mobilize political commitments to accelerate strategic actions, including the public policies and investments needed to tackle the scarcity of water in agriculture, formulate assertive messages on the scarcity of water in agriculture in the main international events, and provide spaces for reflection and contributions to the mid-term evaluation.
