Mindelo, Jul 15 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Family and Social Inclusion will increase the number of socio-educational centres in different vulnerable neighborhoods to support children and adolescents in “school success,” the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion said today.
Lídia Lima, who visited the Ilha Madeira kindergarten and the Ribeira Bote Social Centre on Wednesday afternoon, said it’s planned the creation of several socio-educational centres in vulnerable neighborhoods of the country, taking into account the purpose of these centres is “to give opportunity to all children and adolescents to ensure their school success and have the opportunity for leisure moments and develop recreational activities”.
“We will combat school failure, drug use and combat other social ills which are emerging within youth and adolescents, which with proper referral, with direction and focus on different studies and recreational activities can really change behavior,” said Lídia Lima, for whom through this young people and adolescents “can have a better perspective on the future.”
The Government has a responsibility to ensure these “appropriate places” because “many young people, who live in vulnerable neighborhoods, do not have housing conditions to study and live within families with some conflicts, such as drug-using parents and other marital conflicts”, she said.
