Ministry of Health reduces to three months the vaccination period of people who have already infected with the COVID-19 virus

Praia, Jul 20 (Inforpress) – The National Director of Health, Jorge Noel Barreto, announced Monday that the Ministry of Health has reduced from six to three months the vaccination period of people who have already infected with the COVID-19 virus in Cabo Verde.

Jorge Noel Barreto provided this information during the usual press conference held on Mondays to assess the epidemiological situation in Cabo Verde, and reported the country recorded in the last 24 hours 15 additional positive cases of COVID-19.

The decision to reduce the vaccination interval of people who have been infected with COVID-19 was clearly based on scientific guidelines to allow these people to be more protected from COVID-19, he explained,  but recalled that according to Resolutions 166/2020 and 33/2021, people who have already received both doses of vaccines have to do PCR tests to travel.

“We have been discussing the scientific information already available and it has come to the conclusion that as of today, we will reduce the time interval in which people who have already had COVID-19 and who want to vaccinate, instead of waiting six months, can now wait three months to be vaccinated, so people who have had COVID-19 should count three months from the date they had their diagnosis should register” he said.
