Praia, Jan 25 (Inforpress) – The minister of Justice and Labor said in the city of Praia that the amendments to the Law on the Organisation and Operation of Small Claims Court, which will go to parliament in the next session, will be a “significant step” for small-claims courts.
Janine Lélis made this statement in a statement to journalists this Thursday, before presiding over the opening of the second edition of the master’s degree in Public Law at the Institute of Legal and Social Sciences (ISCJS).
The ruler recalled that this law will be discussed for the vote in the parliamentary session on January 31th and it needs a qualified majority of two thirds for its approval.
“We already have the facilities ready and equipped and we only need this amendment to the law, which is important, because it will increase the amount of the claim that is set at 250.000 escudos to 500 thousand, thus allowing more cases to be decided by this court”, she clarified.
