Mindelo, Oct 5 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, considered that the agricultural year has had a “very satisfactory” course in São Vicente Island, as it happens on the other islands.
According to Gilberto Silva, who was speaking, this Saturday to the press during a visit to the projects supervised by his ministry in São Vicente, the island has a “normal production”, there are “good prospects” in terms of irrigation and São Vicente is among the islands “with largest palm park”, that is, 120 hectares of land.
The government official also pointed out that the dykes made a “good water retention”, with infiltration in the Calhau area, and wells were dry now have a “very reasonable” water column for production in the coming months.
Gilberto Silva also stated that the projects from his ministry in São Vicente have good results. In a specific case, he pointed out, the pilot project for the treatment of water that comes from the Waste Water Treatment Station (WWTP), in Ribeira de Vinhas, for use in agriculture.
