Minister says human resources in the health sector grew 17% in Cabo Verde

Praia, Nov 17 (Inforpress) – Health Minister Arlindo do Rosário said human resources in the sector in the country grew by 17 percent (%) compared to 2017, despite admitting “important challenges.”

“There is still a long path ahead of us, but we have already walked some, from independence, even compared to the ratios considered necessary for universal health coverage, and even to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals we have an important step to do to reach the values,” Arlindo do Rosário told the press after the opening ceremony of the workshop for the preparation of the National Accounts for Health Human Resources.

In this regard, the minister considered it is “extraordinary” that a country like Cabo Verde, which still “has a human deficit”, has achieved “indicators of excellence” such a country of advanced development and with important resilience and assertive responses to the problems have come across, inter alia, the pandemic.

Asked about the impact of the pandemic on the human resources account of the Ministry of Health, Arlindo do Rosário pointed out that in this particular the ministry “knew how to take advantage of the challenge” posed by the pandemic, to the point of “turning it into an opportunity”.
