Praia, Sep 29 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Family and Social Inclusion reiterated today that the government is committed to continuing to work consistently to ensure that 100 per cent of the elderly in Cabo Verde have access to the social protection system by 2024.
Fernando Elísio Freire made these statements to the press on the sidelines of the services and health fair for the elderly, held this Friday by the Ministry of Family, Inclusion and Social Development (MFIDS), in partnership with the Red Cross, as part of the celebrations for the International Day of Older Persons, which is marked on october 1st.
As he pointed out, at the moment around 26,000 elderly people are part of the Single Social Registry (CSU), emphasising that the government is doing focused work for this part of the population.
In addition, the Minister of State, Family, Inclusion and Social Development, recalled that the Elderly Statute has been developed, which will allow its regulation that there is an incentive of the state, improvement in access to different education services of Health, Informatics, Inter-Ilhas and Islands.
