Minister points to science and innovation as the new challenges for diplomacy

Praia, Sep 19 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration on Friday considered “science and innovation” as the new challenges for diplomacy, in his “primordial” view so that foreign policy is better able to respond to the development imperatives.

Rui Figueiredo, who gave his opening speech at the Cabo Verdean Diplomacy Day ceremony, which is marked today from Lisbon (Portugal), also stressed that the evolution of the Directorate of Foreign Policy Studies to the Diplomatic Institute is part of the perspective to having human resources with training tailored to fit the challenges of Cabo Verde.

In this regard, he said that the Ministry is committed to the institutional improvement of its services, having recruited 15 more embassy secretaries and betting on the permanent qualification of diplomats and servants in general.

In his communication he referred to the theme under discussion “Coherence and Pragmatism in Cabo Verde’s Foreign Policy: past, present and future”, as something of added value, especially in the context in which we live, with Cabo Verde’s external action facing enormous challenges.
