Minister points out need to foster the development of the creative industries and the cultural sector

Praia, Oct 4 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, pointed Monday to the need to foster, from UNESCO, the development of creative industries and the cultural sector as an essential public good in all nations.

Abraão Vicente made these statements during the press conference to view Cabo Verde’s participation in the World Conference on Public Policies in the Cultural and Sustainable Development sector – Mondialcult 2022, which took place from September 28 to 30 in Mexico.

According to the Minister, the need to foster from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) the development of creative industries and the cultural sector as an essential public good in all nations is one of the recommendations out of the final declaration of the event.

“The world conference on culture encourages and asks the Secretary-General of the United Nations to adopt and create a concrete objective for culture that has been treated as something transversal to all other objectives, and in Mexico this concrete request to the United Nations is marked for the construction of a new sustainable development objective within what is the SDGs platform for culture”,  he stated.
