Praia, Jun 24 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, visited the Palace of Justice and the Small Causes Court, both in the city of Praia, and recognized, in the end, the need for changes in the way the courts have worked.
“I am on my first visit to find out about the situation of these courts. I wanted to see if it is worth continuing with this model, if we have to make changes to the existing legal framework (…) we have already noticed that there is a need to make some change,” the minister said Wednesday in a statement to the press.
As far as the Small Cause Court, Joana Rosa stressed that with its entry into operation in October 2020, the time limits for deciding cases have been halved, but in the meantime, it does not want to allow the accumulation of cases at the level of that court.
“This court has the powers to judge matters up to the value of the jurisdiction, which are 500.000 escudos, and other powers,” said the ruler, who promised to work on the legal regime already included in the Government Program for Small Causes Courts.
