Minister of Culture defends the need to enhance scale so that country productions have a presence in digital

Praia, Jun 15 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, today defended the need to enhance the scale so that Cabo Verdean productions have a presence in digital.

In his speech at the inauguration of the Cinema and Audiovisual Association of Cabo Verde (ACACV) new bodies for the 2021-2024 mandate, Abraão Vicente highlighted the creation of a community of filmmakers as a “great mission”.

“We need to enhance the scale, we have no scale,” said the ruler, adding that Cabo Verdeans should realize that “we are 500.000 inhabitants in a territory practically without movie theaters and without the market necessary to have a digital presence, and those who do not have a million on Youtube can not monetize their contents well”.

According to him, the digital world is made by scale and the law on cinema allows us to connect, but if there is no scale “will not work”, so he stressed, the cinema of Cabo Verde will only be “visible” on digital platforms if it does a joint work.
