Praia, Jul 13 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, defended the need to bring books to the neighborhoods of the country’s major cities, noting that “there is a need for general culture” in Cabo Verde.
Abraão Vicente made these considerations this Monday at the National Library of Cabo Verde (BNCV), in the City of Praia, during the opening of the training on “Management and Organization of Libraries” and the “Summer Library” 2021 activities, stressing that the training will allow local libraries and communities to have access to the tools of management, planning and promotion of reading of book and literature.
At the time, the minister stressed the need to create “classic alternatives”, having pointed out that the book remains a “classic, modern, contemporary and futuristic” object, since it is in the book all the know-how is deposited and the whole collective memory of a people.
Aware that it is not possible to eliminate access to new dynamics and opportunities created by new technologies, Abraão Vicente argues that it is increasingly “important that institutions such as the National Library take over as an alternative to play time and creativity”.
