Praia, Mar 12 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries (MCIC), Abraão Vicente, visited Thursday Alto Safende and delivered the “Barku despensa”, which according to him symbolizes “peace and unity “.
The “Barku d’ Speransa” was presented as a symbol of the Cabo Verdean people resilience and representation of one of the national passions and designs, namely fishing, the sea and emigration.
Constructed of metallic steel, it symbolizes the strength and resilience of Cabo Verdean fishermen.
At the time, Abraão Vicente explained that when they thought about this boat the idea was to put it in the center of the Plateau, so that on Valentine’s Day couples or friends could go there and make their alliances of love and friendship, putting a padlock.
“Then we think, and why not put in a community that has been doing a work of peace and friendship together with the people of the neighborhood? That’s when the idea came up to talk to Dino and he suggested us to put the boat in Alto Safende,” he explained.
