Minister highlights the need to strengthen the monitoring system for climate change in the archipelago

Praia, April 25 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Agriculture and Environment emphasized today in Praia the need for Cape Verde to strengthen its monitoring system and continue to develop its biennial communication and report on climate change.

Gilberto Silva spoke to the press on the sidelines of the Regional Practical Training Workshop on Climate Change and Adaptation in the African Region, which takes place from today until April 28 and involves experts and representatives from 38 African countries, under the theme “Reporting information on the impacts and adaptation to climate change and the support needed and received in relation to adaptation reports.”

The workshop aims to increase awareness among institutions and experts about reporting provisions for information related to the impacts of climate change and adaptation under the Paris Agreement and the Convention, including the necessary support and received in relation to adaptation reports.

“Cape Verde has been developing its national communication and preparing its biennial report with the support of the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, like many other countries, but the question that arises is whether we can strengthen our monitoring capacity and not just that,” said the minister.
