Minister highlights the importance of monitoring the impacts of measures to promote social protection

City of Praia, September 25th (Inforpress) – The Minister of Family and Social Inclusion, Fernando Elísio Freire, today highlighted the importance of statistics in social protection and monitoring the impacts of measures and policies implemented to ensure better execution and results of them

Fernando Elísio Freire made these remarks in statements to the press on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the seminar on “The Importance of Statistics of Social Protection: A seminar for public institutions, social partners, academia, journalists and representatives of civil society”, as part of the implementation of the ACTION/Portugal project of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

According to the government official, the statistics make it possible to assess gains and aspects that still need to be improved, ensuring that the Government of Cabo Verde is aligned with international objectives, with the national commitment to universalizing the social protection service. as something that is fundamental to the dignity of the human person.

“The importance of statistics in social protection is to see if we are on the right track with the measures and policies we have been taking in recent years. The numbers show that we are in a good situation, but we still want more,” he declared.
