Minister announces military programming law to “make a difference” in the modernization of the Armed Forces

Praia, Jan 6 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Defense and Territorial Cohesion said today that Cabo Verde will bet on the creation of the military programming law, in the framework of the modernization of the Armed Forces (FA) of Cabo Verde, with the aim of “making a difference”.

Janine Lélis, who spoke after receiving the new year greetings from the militar Institution, said this is a measure for the legislature and to change the ‘status quo’, taking into account the predictability of budgeting over the several years to give meet and answers to the “immense difficulties” still persist in the Armed Forces.

“The Armed Forces are one of the institutions that Cabo Verdeans trust the most. It is recognizing this effort the dedication, constitutional and republican importance so that we intend to work on its modernization and this time more concretely in the preparation for implementation of the military program law that is the fact can make a difference”, she said.

Janine Lélis also referred to the revision of the military justice system and the reassessment of the Armed Forces’ role and tasks, taking into account that moments of crisis are also opportunities for reformulation and better definition of strategies, she said.
