Minister Abraão Vicente wants to see more young people from São Vicente benefit from the Funding for Access to Culture

Mindelo, Apr 27 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture, Abraão Vicente, challenged more schools to enroll in the Funding for Access to Culture Programme (BA Cultura), in São Vicente, which currently has only five schools benefited and 220 students.

The Minister made the appeal this Tuesday, in Mindelo, in the act of signing contracts for the granting of support from BA Cultura to five schools of São Vicente, namely Grupo Desportivo Recreativo Eskedinha, Academia de Artes Integradas do Mindelo (ALAIM), Sodade Arte e Arte, Escola Inclusive de Arte e Educarte, a total amount of about 1.7million escudos.

According to the same source, the Ministry of Culture motto in this mandate is to take the culture as far as possible, so much so that, at this time, at the national level, there are already 83 schools benefited with more than three thousand students, amounting to 22 million escudos and should still be reinforced with about 4.5 million escudos still in 2022.

However, at the moment the challenge for Mindelo, which is “in deficit”, is to have more schools enrolled and benefit from the Programme, in addition to the current five, with 220 students. Abraão Vicente pointed to the example of the City of Praia, with 32 schools, and the countryside of Santiago, with 21.
