Praia, Jul 12 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean ‘Influencer’ Jael Tavares, born in Luxembourg, has a 100% national photographic and product exhibition in the Cabo Verdean community to raise awareness on the importance of origins at the Cloche d’Or Shopping Centre in Luxembourg.
Jael Tavares was born in Luxembourg as a result of a relationship between a Cabo Verdean and a Portuguese woman and, as he told Inforpress, he always had a “very strong” connection with Cabo Verde and a “huge desire” to know his father’s homeland well.
“At home we always spoke Portuguese and when I started attending school I had to learn several languages, but at the time, I couldn’t learn Creole because they were too many languages and too many for me,” he said.
It was with my colleagues on the street I started talking, only I learned the Barlavento variant and when I came to Cabo Verde, I found that I wasn’t talking about the Creole from Santiago, so I decided to really learn to talk about my father’s island variant, which never really cared about my Barlavento Creole, he said.
