Luís Filipe Tavares resigns: Prime Minister accuses PAICV to creating a soap opera for their own advantage

Praia, Jan 15 (Inforpress) – Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, on Friday, accused the PAICV (opposition party) to creating a soap opera for their own advantage on the resignation request by the former foreign minister, Luís Filipe Tavares.

That was the Head of Government’s reaction when asked by journalists about information from the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (PAICV), which this Friday, in a press conference, said he doubted whether the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities, and former Minister of Defense, Luís Filipe Tavares, took the “initiative to resign” from the Government.

“PAICV wants to create a soap opera, and I will no longer be an actor in that soap opera. We have already given enough explanations and I will not elaborate further on this matter”, said Ulisses Correia e Silva, who assured there were no other reasons for Luís Filipe Tavares’ resignation.

“Explanations have been given and it is clear that the opposition is interested in scenes from the next chapters and to make this a soap opera and the protagonists are free to participate or not, we are not available to participate in this soap opera that the opposition wants to create and take advantage of on its own from this political fact”, he pointed out.
